Deltaphase® Isothermal 6"x4" Pad (Fits Grace Small Animal Surgery Boards)

SKU:
DP-SASB

The DP-SASB Deltaphase® Isothermal Pads is a 6"x4" pad that fits directly into Grace Small Animal Surgery Boards or can be used on its own. The pads maintain animals or cultures at 37 degrees C for hours. Ideal for NMR! The Deltaphase Isothermal Pad is a new approach to body temperature stabilization. It acts as a source of heat, but cannot overheat once it has reached it's phase change . Its constant temperature is based on a thermodynamic principle and needs no electricity or wires, no thermostat or feedback controller. It cannot generate electrical signals or cause interference. It cannot trigger an explosion. It can maintain a small animal at near normal and constant temperature for several hours.

Unlike electrically powered warming systems, the Deltaphase Isothermal Pad uses a thermodynamic phase-change process to deliver stable heat without electricity, wires, thermostats, or feedback controllers. Because it contains no electrical components, it produces no electrical signals or interference and cannot create ignition hazards in sensitive environments.

The pad contains a specialized chemical solution sealed within a durable pouch. At room temperature, the solution remains solid. When heated to approximately 39°C, the contents become fluid, activating the pad for use. Once an animal or cooler object is placed on the activated pad, the solution gradually returns to its solid state while releasing stored heat at a constant temperature.

This heat-releasing phase change is isothermal, meaning the temperature remains stable throughout the transition. During solidification, the pad releases more than 30 calories of heat per gram of solution while maintaining a near-constant temperature. The pad remains isothermal until the liquid phase has completely solidified, after which the temperature gradually declines.

The transition temperature is preset to 39°C, ensuring a gentle temperature gradient that promotes continuous heat transfer from the pad to the animal. This balances normal heat loss and helps maintain body temperature near physiological levels for extended periods.
