Deltaphase® Isothermal Pads 8" x 8" - 3 Pack With Insulators

SKU:
39DP

The Deltaphase Isothermal Pad maintains animals or cultures at 37°C for hours and is ideal for NMR applications. It provides a unique approach to body temperature stabilization using a thermodynamic phase-change principle rather than electricity or electronic controls.

The pad acts as a heat source but cannot overheat once it reaches its phase-change temperature. Because it operates without electricity, wires, thermostats, or feedback controllers, it produces no electrical signals or interference and poses no ignition risk in sensitive environments.

A specialized chemical solution is sealed within a durable pouch. At room temperature, the solution remains solid. When heated to approximately 39°C, the solution liquefies, activating the pad for use. As an animal or cooler object contacts the activated pad, the solution gradually returns to its solid state, releasing heat during the phase transition.

This phase-change process is isothermal, meaning the temperature remains constant throughout the transition. More than 30 calories of heat are released per gram of solution while maintaining a stable temperature. The pad continues delivering steady heat until the liquid phase has completely solidified, after which the temperature begins to decline.

The transition temperature is preset to 39°C, creating a gentle temperature gradient that supports continuous heat transfer from the pad to the animal. This balances normal heat loss and helps maintain body temperature near physiological levels for several hours, particularly with the 8" × 8" pad format.

This package contains three 8" x 8" Deltaphase Isothermal Pads, three insulators and instruction manual.
