Stereotaxic
Surgery in the Rat: A Photographic Series
By: Cooley, R.K., and
Vanderwolf, C.H., (1990), A.J. Kirby Co., London Canada
General Description
The
stereotaxic surgery manual provides a clear, step by step outline of the
procedures involved in stereotaxic surgery with the most common laboratory
animal, the rat. This 8.5 by 11 inch, 104 page, paperback manual has a
plastic binding to lay flat. There are over 40 full page photographs
illustrating each of the steps involved in the routine implantation of a
chronic intracranial electrode. Each photograph is accompanied by a facing
page giving a clear outline of the procedure illustrated. The manual
developed in its present form as a result of the authors' experience in
undergraduate laboratory teaching. It is uniquely suitable for use by
individuals who have had little or no previous surgical experience.

Chemoarchitectonic Atlas of the Rat Brainstem
By: Paxinos Et Al.
Spiral bound
Published: January 1999
General Description
Chemoarchitectonic Atlas of the Rat Brainstem is
the most comprehensive atlas of the rat brainstem ever published,
featuring 243 fully labeled large photographs of the brainstem. It
identifies brains structure not only on the conventional Nissl-stained
sections, but also on an additional six stains of interest to
neuroscientists. Scientists will no longer need to search journals in the
hope that they may obtain some information about the distribution of the
vital substances presented in this book. Chemoarchitectonic Atlas of the
Rat Brainstem comprehensively displays them and concurrently sets new
standards of accuracy in the delineations of brain regions.
Key Features
 |
Contains 243 fully
delineated photographic plates in a large 13" x 14" format |
 |
Sets new standards of
accuracy in the delinations of brain regions |
 |
Based on a single
brain sectioned on the coronal plane |
 |
Presents at regular
intervals photographs of sections stained for parvalbumin, calbindin,
calretinin, SMI32, Nissl, tyrosine hydroxilase and NADPH-diaphorase |
 |
An excellent
companion to The Rat Brain in Stereotaxic Coordinates, Compact and
Fourth Editions |

Chemoarchitectonic Atlas of the Rat Forebrain
By: Paxinos Et Al.
Spiral bound
Published: December 1998
General Description
The rat brain is the most widely used model by
neuroscientists. Chemoarchitectonic Atlas of The Rat Forebrain, featuring
242 fully labeled, large photographs, is the most comprehensive atlas of
the rat forebrain ever published. It identifies brain structure not only
on the conventional Nissl-stained sections but on additional six stains of
interest to neuroscientists. This authoritative atlas provides
comprehensive information about the location of chemicals in the rat
forebrain, while redefining brain regions on the basis of the distribution
of these substances.
